Wandering in Wonderful Indonesia: Taman Sari Underground Mosque

What all of us knew was that we were on our way to the Water Castle.  But, Herman wanted to show us something he knew we would definitely enjoy – Taman Sari Underground Mosque.  That man is full of (awesome) surprises, I tell you!

The Underground Mosque is one of the structures that comprise Taman Sari.  And, at the onset, we were all amazed with the colors and antiquity of the place.

At one point, because we were taking too much time having our our pictures taken, Angge said, “Guys, hurry up!  You’d love this.”  And, so we did.

Accessible by underwater passage, the underwater entrances…

Perhaps because of its beauty and uniqueness, the Taman Sari Underground Mosque was listed as a tentative UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995.  And, yes, I am blessed to have witnessed this wonderful man-made creation.
