Where to stay in Puerto Princesa, Palawan: Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn

After enjoying the beaches of El Nido, Justine of The Red Backpacker and I headed back to Puerto Princesa, Palawan.  Our home for a few days was Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn.

It took us a while before we got to decide where we would be staying.  We were supposed to attend a retreat at one of the members of the company I am currently working for but days prior, they let us know that the retreat we were interested in attending was not available anymore.  So, we had to look for a different place.  As we were also planning to work the rest of the time we were in Palawan, we scoured the internet for a nice location in Puerto Princesa, Palawan – somewhere quaint and cozy that’s within our budget, nice and easy on the eyes, with acceptable internet connection, and with clean toilet and bath (of course!) – and that’s when we stumbled upon Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn.

We arrived at the place via the van we booked with Nido Bay Inn in El Nido, Palawan.  Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn is very near Puerto Princesa International Airport, just about 3 minutes drive.  If we were coming from the airport, it would have been easier to access the location as they provide complimentary roundtrip airport transfers.  However, since we headed there from El Nido, Palawan, we arrived at Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn via the van we booked with Nido Bay Inn.  Our accommodation of choice in Puerto Princesa is one of the newer options in the city and one of the pretty ones, too! :)

Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn and its staff will make you feel right at home the moment you step in.  The staff at the reception area greeted us with big smiles as we registered and checked in.

They led us to our home for a few days and Justine of The Red Backpacker and I just couldn’t hide our excitement.

The room assigned to us was very welcoming indeed! We had our own porch, shared with a neighbor (okay, that was a bit conflicting, but you know what I mean).

There were two beds inside – one we used to sleep and the smaller one we used to place our backpacks.

Breakfast from White Fence Country Cafe is included in the discounted rate that we paid for (Php 1,960.00 per night for two people).  And, since we loved the vibe in the café and because of the proximity (yeah, we’re lazy like that), we had most of our meals in here, too.  Can you blame us, though?  While the food’s a bit pricey, they were indeed delicious.  And, look at how pretty the interiors are.

While I would say that the internet connection is not as spectacular as what we would have expected (thank God for unlimited mobile data), the view of the several work places we have within Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn definitely made up for it.

For those times we chose to work on our porch, we have this as our view (apologies for the unstable hands) –

After dinner, we would sometimes opt to work at their White Fence Country Cafe

Or, after the cafe’s operation hours, we would sometimes work here. Not bad, eh? :)

We stayed at Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn for 5 days and 4 nights. While it is not a beach front accommodation, atypical of a Puerto Princesa choice of lodging, I would say that it fits right our needs.  And, maybe not just ours – this 10-room quaint and cozy inn was awarded with the TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice in the B&Bs/Inns category of Puerto Princesa and is accredited by the Department of Tourism.

They also offer packages that include accommodation and tours to the Underground River and Honda Bay at a reasonable price (for details, please click here), like what our neighbor did.  We probably would have, too, but both Justine and I had been to both places in our prior visits.

If you are looking for something unique, relaxing, with basic amenities and superb customer service, I recommend Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn.  It’s accessibility, comfortable beds, well thought out interiors, and helpful staff would definitely make your stay worthwhile (as it did ours). :)
